To obtain the most outside of an NVMe drive, you should run your operating procedure on it, and that means you will need to have a program that acknowledges the drive and may boot from it. PCs procured in the previous calendar year or two should have no issue booting from an NVMe drive, but guidance for that may be iffy in more mature motherboards.
